It begins the Season of Lent, lasting for forty days, leading us into the saving events of Holy Week. The whole season prepares us for the great feast of Easter. This day is one of fast and abstinence: light eating and no meat! The only other such day is Good Friday. Ashes will be blessed and distributed at both Masses, 10.00am and 7.00pm. Ashes will also be distributed at a short ceremony (no Mass) at 3.30pm. This is to facilitate school children and their parents on their way home from school, but everyone is welcome.
Mass for Lent
To facilitate those who are unable to attend Morning Mass and who would like to celebrate Mass at least once during the week for Lent, there will be an evening Mass each Wednesday during the coming lent.

During the summer weeks, major repairs were carried out on the church roof and windows. Repairs to the roof cost £3164 and will propably be on-going since its repacement is fanancially impossible. Some of the upper windows were completely smashed and many were so seriously cracked that they had to be replaced . This damage was caused by vandalism. The window repairs cost £1056. While repairs to the church building are not very obvious, it is important tp preserve the fabric as best we can.
